At the foot of the Massif des Maures, the Domaine du Rayol is a natural part of the region's heritage and an example of exceptional architecture. In 1989, the Conservatoire du Littoral entrusted the site's restoration to the landscaper Gilles Clément. He designed the Jardin des Méditerranées (Mediterranean Gardens), which depict the countrysides of the world, in a Mediterranean climate.
The Domaine du Rayol is a protected natural area covering 20 hectares, owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, located in Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, in the foothills of the Massif des Maures and overlooking the islands of Hyères, in Var, between Le Lavandou and Saint-Tropez.
To explore this garden is to feel just a few of the emotions experienced by a botanist and explorer trotting the globe!
The Domaine du Rayol is open all year round. Permanent exhibitions, guided "discovery" tours, themed visits, training workshops, celebration of seasonal changes, the plant festival, the marine footpath and musical events in the summer. On site: the Café des Jardiniers (Gardeners' Café), a specialist bookshop and an ecological nursery.
