After their departure, a village was built on the Sainte Madeleine (or Magdeleine) hillside. An engraving from 1008 mentions &#8220;Ad molam&#8221;, derived from the manufacture of milestones by hand (mola manuaria). Castrum de mola&#8221; and &#8220;Mola&#8221; were also mentioned in 1079. In the 17th century, the seigneury belonged to the Suffren family. In 1728, there were seven heads of household in La Mole.
